Interrupted hasty blogging never works. Take my post from a couple of days ago. I carefully though of a good title, I want people to be drawn to the blogs - too often I end up with an index entry rather than a title. Children of the Revolution is great - if you're even aware of T-Rex you will make the connection, if you're not it should make you want to read it. Apart from being a T-Rex song and a good title there was a proper reason to use it.
After the service on Sunday, or at the end of the service on Sunday the Bill Legend band played this song, in the place where people begin to talk over the music and drift to coffee, or dash home to lunch. It was the first and probably the only time we will end a service like that. No-one left. Not until the song was finished. It was some times written as "(you won't fool the) Children of the Revolution". T-Rex lyrics were never profound (unless they are way too deep for me ...) but I like to think that I am one of the Children of the Revolution - Christ's revolution to restore the world to what it should be. They cannot be fooled. OK that deals with the Chorus. As to the verses ...
???
... any suggestions?

Children of the Revolution
It must be Seventies revival weekend.
Saturday night saw the Bill Legend band at Christ Church. This was the second time we have seen the band at our church. Read about the last time at: http://3cephas.blogspot.com/2007/12/bill-legend-band-and-bishop-laurie-at_03.html. I was definitely a T-Rex fan (still am), and certainly enjoyed the music last night. I also enjoyed listening to Bill. He is a much better speaker two years on. (I also enjoyed the problems they experienced with the technology, and the PowerPoint not working. It's good to know its not only ME that happens to.) We had a great time. The band are serious musicians - just 3 men with guitars and a drummer - some would say that's the archetypal rock band. The sound was wonderful even in Christ Church. There were no missed cues or badly sung songs. The message was clear - its about God and Jesus - that's why we're here. Even the worship songs were good. Saturday night rounded off the week nicely.
On Sunday (its B2CS btw) the band were also at Christ Church to lead the worship. We knew most of the songs and could join in easily. It was loud enough for me to be able to sing without the fear that I might distract someone who really can sing. I prefer the worship music to be loud enough to drown me out and lead by someone who is a really good singer. Our regular musicians are very good, but are not in this style. Warner spoke on Colossians 1:17-23. Calling the people of this land back to faith in Jesus Christ, and Jesus is Lord of All creation, the Church and You? Is he Lord over you too?
Sunday morning started the new week brilliantly.
Sunday afternoon kept up the mood. Lewis Hamilton won the Singapore GP. My unique score sheet is @ http://www.fisher-folk.co.uk/2009F1_Results.html, and my race summary is @ http://profiles.yahoo.com/blog/BK2I3MDCN3DKQYQLQEHPXRG4XQ?eid=U7B5P.FhzChlmtAIq13gg70WEoXJ6rqoIZumGI.T41Rih89Ltw
Jensen Button extended his lead in the Championship table.
Tomorrow is part 2 of Everybody Welcome.

Sunday, December 16th 08:00 @ Christ Church
Yes, we really did get up and go to the 8am communion service. It is a spoken service, so no music or singing. Warner preached on Joseph and the risks he took in Matthew 1:18ff. I'm not sure if these are recorded, so you may not be able to listen to it on the website. Then breakfast in the Church hall. Today was special - a Christmas breakfast. That's all the usual things plus sausages and bacon, and croissants and chocolate breads. Its was very nice, and I drank too much coffee, and ate too much food. The straight on to the 10am Family Service. Our trainee reader had an assessed sermon this morning, on the same passage, but directed at a very different audience. As one of those asked to provide feedback I had to pay careful attention. I was grateful for the extra coffee to sharpen my mind, but it wasn't really a problem as the sermon was well worth listening to.

Bill Legend band and Bishop Laurie at Christ Church
After Saturday evening I had high expectations for church this morning. I was not disappointed. The Bill Legend band lead the singing, and it was a wonderfully up-lifting morning. I'm please to say that we sung my new favourite song Majesty (Here I am) by Delirious. The band set up was exactly as the night before, and their worship songs just as good, but now in the context of the service. Warner apologised at the start that the music would be louder than usual, but promised that it was turned down from last night. That was the first time I've heard vocal protest in a service for some time. The music was a lot louder than we're used to. Loud enough for me to sing at the top of my voice, and not be heard by those on either side, back or front. It's partly this freedom to sing with out fear of putting others off that makes the worship better for me. When the music is quiet I find it difficlut to hear and even more difficult to follow the tune. Tone deaf doesn't cut it, but that isn't really the problem, I can hear the tune, I just have never been able to re-produce it.
Still, there was those who complained, so I guess they have their own problems to overcome, but for me - I like it LOUD.
SO that was good, but there was better to come. Laurie, who apparently changed his sermon in the last few minutes before the service started, used the band to help. It will be on the Christ Church web-site soon, so watch out for it, and listen to it. This is easily the best sermon I have heard in 2007. He has managed to listen to the Spirit and truly pick up the message we need to hear, and (very importantly) to present it in a way that is easy to listen to.
