Decorating - the finished article; Kitchens the unfinishing task

The finished article:
I can't do anything about the Kitchen, we have ANOTHER fitter coming to do an estimate tomorrow. There is quite a saga to this. The outcome is that nothing has happened. We have been to lots of places, they are either:
  • ignoring us
  • get into financial difficulties
  • producing estimates that are WAY beyond our resources
  • lacking imagination
  • lacking understanding of the requirement !!
  • lacking real interest in the job
  • failing to deliver a quote
  • offer 'dodgy deals'
... can't wait for tomorrow!

P.S. Still no progress on the hall either.

Decorating (In the Pink)

Saturday, with the large crack nicely filled, and most of the light pink painting complete:My contribution to this has been to provide tools, explanations, and do the filling. No washing, no sanding, no painting. Liz has done 90% of it herself. She did have a couple of friends helping on Saturday - but that was just so they could watch the football (Man U vs Arsenal - you may have heard of them) on Sky.

Sunday evening, afetr the main wall has been painted:

The new bed has arrived and is waiting to be assembled Jo washed the carpet today. Just the window surround and window sill to complete. Liz has done a great job and been very focussed. I do like it when the children (all 18+) decorate their own rooms. I'll like it even better when they do other parts of the house. Liz, Andy, Mike - the hall could do with a refresh.

Cracking Up

To relieve the tension, and to stop my self from cracking up, I decided to take a stroll through Tate Modern at lunch time. I'm not sure if this exhibit was one of the first in Turbine Hall, my memory isn't that good, but it certainly makes for an interesting piece outside the entrance.
Below is the banner advertising the exhibition, this is a regular feature at Tate Modern, but a different display each year.

So now to this years display - a crack in the floor:
They have people handing out warning leaflets at all the entrances, apparently some people have already fallen down it! In these "Health and Safety" days, I'm surprised it hasn't been cordoned off. Below is a picture of the crack as it goes across the east end of the Turbine Hall.
It is ART? - Who knows? When I walk through Tate Modern, as I do occasionally, I often hear comments. The slides got lots of positive comments, the only comment I heard today "This is cr*p".

OK so I'm going to help fill in some, thankfully, smaller cracks. In the wall of one of our bedrooms.
