How much of what you're told do you really believe

It's quite common to hear 'fake news' shouted when someone hears something they don't like, but how fake is it really.  Then there are all the COVID deniers, the anti-vaxers and the flat eathers.  They don't believe things that if they looked at them carefully they should.  Some things, though, are quite ridiculous, even when they come from (supposedly?) authoritative sources.

Take the latest report from Toomey Nissan on my car's tyres:

Now, you need to know that the car is about 3 years old and only the near-side front type has been changed, and that was just about a week before this report.

All the tyres will need to be replaced in one month apparently. If it's 50% worn (near side rear) and I continue to drive the same amount I should get approximately another 3 years, shouldn't I?

So, what about the other advice / recommendations they gave me?  Well, on the evidence I have seen, it all goes into the 'preposterous rubbish' bin and is ignored.
