The Longest Summer Holiday Ever 5: Return to Church

I am currently avoiding being in buildings (except home, of course) as much as possible. I have been to the office a few times, but only twice when I knew others were there. This morning I was on the rota to preach, both online and in church,  so a visit inside a building with lots of others is essential.

Lots of work has been done to make it COVID secure. There's sign-in for track and trace, a one way system, guidance to seats - fill up from the front first, screens around the singers, the bible reader and the service leader. The seats are in pairs and widely separated. Plenty of hand sanitiser. Everybody wearing face masks or shields. I can't think of anything more that could be done. The service went well, and so did the sermon, judging by the feedback.

Even with all of this, perhaps because of all of this, I still didn't feel safe. Part of that was down to people walking passed while we sat in our seats. Part of it was down to wondering what was left in the air, and not circulating around because the air was still.

As we move into Autumn, the heating will have to be used, then it will be even worse.

I will remain a reluctant attendee for a while yet.
