What I can do with my right arm

What can I do with my right arm? - well not lift a pint - not yet anyway.

It is a relief to be able to do some simple things though, these are all things I couldn't do with it in the sling:
- carry a book
- button a shirt
- clean my teeth
- open the fridge
- control a mouse - forward and backward, but not side to side
- reach the tap across the kitchen sink (by walking the hand on the sink)

and so it could go on. Movement is returning, but it is a slow process, and each day has its milestones. It is important for me when thinking about my recovery to see something new happen each day - however small.

Thursday I went back to work. Jo drove me in and picked me up at the end of the day.
Friday I went for a walk at lunchtime unaccompanied - it was very cold, and I was too slow to be able to warm up. With the arm hanging straight down there is more movement generated by walking than there was with the sling strapping it to my body. More movement equals more pain, although I have still avoided pain killers.
Today, after a really painful night, I have found typing easier, although still quite uncomfortable.

Back to sermon preparation ...
