After saying at Christmas that we don't visit Karen enough, we have already managed it twice since! The first was to pick her up and take her to see her cousin. Its a good stop-off point, if slightly off the beaten track (motorway).
Before Christmas I had borrowed a number of books on prayer - for my preparation for the week of prayer at Christ Church. Almost as soon as I had finished with them (not read them from cover to cover unfortunately!) I hear that Karen is speaking on the subject and needs her books. An opportunity to go and visit her. So we did.
We went up for tea the other weekend and Karen cooked, and baked a cake. Excellent cake it was too. A very nice meal as well. Here's a picture of the vegetable Lasagne - slightly blurred, sorry.
We had a lovely evening, eating and chatting with Karen, Liz and Liz's friend Kay. I think we stayed too long, but time flew by. Which is always a sign of good company.
I think that cooking for your parents in your own home is a right of passage - and probably one of the last.
Karen, Thanks for a great evening. Hope we can do it again sometime soon.
