A strange formal, almost ceremonial occasion. There was of course no doubt about the outcome - Industrial Disease - Mesothelioma. Its is another important step in coming to terms with the death, and a long overdue one. The certificate can now be issued, and the next phase of the process begin.
I learnt a bit of history. Asbestos was first used in 1936 in trains in the UK, and was imported from an American company. Grandad was at some point in charge of its removal, but by then would have suffered exposure to it - and you don't need much exposure to risk the disease.
