Last of the Summer Holidays - Flowers and Insects

For our last 'day out' before the Summer Holidays end, and we're back on the School run, we visited Hyde Hall for a couple of hours. That was enough for us, as walking isn't as easy as it once was.

The RHS garden is lovely at most times of year, but we particularly went to see the roses and the bees.  The journey there was not as straight forward as it should have been - Google Maps left us in the middle of nowhere, but worked OK at the second attempt.  Yes, I used the full address both times, not just the post code.

Here are a couple of my favourite pictures from the visit.

I think this was probably my favourite rose, but there are so many to choose from.  Many of the roses have blackspot, so, I'm not the only one who struggles to control it.  There were only a few small insects that looked like beetles on the roses.

The daisies were covered with bees and other insects.  The highly cultivated plants were left alone.  Although the garden has its own hives, and the vegetable gardens were producing a good amount of fruit, I wonder if more could be done for the insects outside the growing season.
