Flixton, 14 October 2021 - Brown and Pink, with a flash of White

This morning we found all the car windows at the same level, about half open. We are mystified by this, we cannot explain how it can happen.

On our last holiday in July we looked to have a day on the broads, but all the boats that were running would only allow small dogs.  Perhaps the boats at Oulton Broad are larger, as 'well behaved dogs are allowed'.  We arrived just in time to see the 11:00 sailing depart.  The next one is 14:00.  Time to wander around Kenny Everett Park (Oops, Nicholas Everitt), but not before we watched a sail boat and a larger craft go through the lock, passed the raised foot/cycle bridge and the raised road bridge on Bridge Road.  Some fascinating engineering, a counterbalanced foot bridge,  simple bat narrow lifted piece of road, and double gates, forming a diamond, at each end of the lock. I couldn't find anyone to explain this, so I'm open to comments.

Before all that, though, we saw a number of these:

Goose

We had never seen anything like this before.  Apparently it's an Egyptian Goose (http://birdingintheuk.blogspot.com/2015/04/egyptian-goose.html)

The park is lovely and has more attractions than we could visit.  We had quite a wait. A cup of tea is always welcome, once that was gone, Jo bought some sandwiches - Brie and Black Forest Ham.  I'd never heard of that, it appears to be ham thinly sliced and fried.  Anyway, a good sandwich, but with my difficulties with bread, I paid the price for it during the afternoon.

In the park, we saw one of the "Banksy's" that have recently appeared in the area:

We're all in the same Boat

There is other art around the town as well:

The river trip was lovely and peaceful.  Some of the riverside houses are very impressive, but the wildlife that we had hoped to see was very sparse indeed.

We continued in an easterly direction to Ness Point in Lowestoft, the most easterly point in the UK:

By now we are both cold, so instead of heading into Lowestoft, we head back to the warmth of the 'cottage'.
