This morning we decided to visit the Davis Arboretum, it is part of the university, but is open to the public. It is the coldest morning since we arrived, one degree Celsius, with a slight breeze. Parking is allowed because it is holiday time, so we parked close to the entrance. Most of the trees are deciduous, but there are a few firs and hollies to give some colour. The breeze freezes our fingers, and makes control of the camera difficult even on a point-and-shoot. There are some small birds, rather chaffinch like, but they are very active and it is difficult to see more detail. Here are a couple of pictures:
Leyland Cypress
Long leaf pine
Binomial Nomenclature Gnome
From the Arboretum we went to the Village Mall, to warm up, and to find some things we still needed to get for Karen and Robert. We also found Jo a Christmas present. The sales are on, so we didn't pay as much as we could have. Then it was back for lunch - sandwiches, the first time we have made sandwiches in America. After lunch we visited Walmart for supplies, and struggled to find things when we didn't know the name.
The sunsets here are stunning.
Later we went out to Zoe's Kitchen for tea. Kabobs (kebabs), rice, salad, pitta bread - unexpectedly good and a quite expensive cookie.
