Cafe Style - Communion by Extension

This mornings service was communion by extension, as Warner is still un-well, and the other 2 clergy in the parish are busy looking after the other 3 churches. So it was left to the readers and the youth worker to put this service together. I hope the result was helpful, and improved the worship of those who came. I was preaching, and you can read my sermon on my other blog. Mark, our youth worker had put everything on the screen, and produced a service leaflet as well as getting the supplies. He did a very good job. We asked the servers to distribute the bread and wine to the tables. The service started with Coffee and cake, and people chose their tables and sat down to talk with those they had on their table. There was no singing at this service, and following all the other usual activities there was more coffee and biscuits. The 2 ladies doing the catering also did a fantastic job of service people as they came in and as they left - lots more hard work than usual for them.

I, for one, enjoyed myself. It was, for me, a thought provoking service, there was a buzz of conversation during many parts of the service, and all those taking part ministered to the congregation, ensuring that those who did not receive communion did receive a prayer of blessing.
