England goes smoke free on July 1st.

Which means its against the law to smoke in public enclosed spaces - i.e. clubs, pubs, bars, restaurants, bus and train stations, (and the buses and trains themselves) and in London the Thames boat landing stages. Now most of the landing stages are about as enclosed as a small wood. Yes, you can find shelter, if the rain is coming straight down, but not really in any other conditions.

So now you've guessed it!

Yes, the Thames cruisers are exempt from this ban, or so it said in paper a few days ago!

I feel a Victor Meldrew moment coming on

"I don't believe it!"

This is, of course, just the sort of thing that happens when you try to live your life by a set of rules. The rules eventually become ever more complicated, and ever more contradictory. Surely there's a better way.

Yes, there is. Grace and love are better ways.
