We went away from Tuesday to Friday - little by little normality returns. It was a very good break, and also a chance for the boys to redeem themselves. Last time we were away there were parties, and police, and upset neighbours. Not so this time, but they had managed to assemble and use my new barbequeue. I can't decide if in pleased, as they seem to have done a good job, or angry that they assume that everything in the hous is theirs. They also left the tools in the garden, which is something I have done before - but the tools were mine. Back to the ownership thing again.
so now to the break - three nights at The Cottage in the Wood. It claims to have the best views in england. Its more than half way up the hills, and it was truly a beautiful view.
Having chosen the only English wine on the Hotels amazing wine list, we then visited the Three Choirs Vineyard. Its a very acceptable rose, and we bought a couple of bottles. I'm no wine expert, but it was pleaseant to drink, and that's what counts for me.
We visited "British Camp" a truly stunning location for a hill fort. At the top of the camp we could hear shouting, two women calling, and crying. I thought it was for a lost dog - but it turned out to be for their son's who had wandered off! after a while, another walker appeared. She had found them and brought them to the top of the hill to see what could be seen. A truly scarry experience for all concerned. We wish them well. Lost children do seem to bring out the best in (most) people. We also vistied Liz and Karen. Liz is newly famous, as her blog has been spotted by Metro. Karen is nearing the end of her time in Splott.
Then back home across country. A forty mile diversion to force us on the Motorway we didn't want to travel on. Green credentials are completely missing from the highways agencies.
Follow the A422 by the road signs from west of Stratford-upon-Avon, travelling east.
Sounds as though you had a great holiday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you posted the link to the photos of British Camp; I've heard of hill forts before but these were the first photos I'v seen of one.
